Asian Marine & Boating Awards 2013

SHANGHAI, April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Almost inevitably when one expands the number of judges, one also expands the potential opinions regarding worthy nominees in any awards regime.

So it is no surprise that the 2013 Asian Marine & Boating Awards nominees list is longer than ever with 80 nominees across 16 categories, and still with a couple of judges yet to return their nominations forms for inclusion in the list.

So the job is almost half done and in the next few days the completed nominations list will be forwarded to the judges for them to select the boat, club, event or person of their choice and return them for correlation and tabulation.

The Awards ceremony will be held on the Thursday evening of the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show and the venue will be announced in the near future.

The categories the judges will be mulling over during the next couple of weeks are as follows:

Best Dayboat (Sportsboat/Dinghy)

Best Sailing Yacht Under 45'

Best Sailing Yacht over 45'

Best Motor Yacht under 40'

Best Motor Yacht 40' 75'

Best Motor Yacht over 75'

Best Brand Penetration

Best Yacht Designer

Asian Regatta of the Year

Asian Boating Capital of the Year

Personality of the Year

Yacht Club of the Year

Most Eco-friendly Marine Business

Best Sports Boat

Best Sports Fishing Boat

Most Innovative Company

I am sure there will be much to think about and a few late nights as the judges check out the various nominees before casting their votes.

A long, complex and involved process, one the organizers believe that is necessary to ensure that the Asian marine and Boating Awards continue to present awards that are won and not gifted, and that the winners in each category deserved their prizes. To that end, judges are encouraged to make their decisions in isolation and keep their choices within the judges' circle to maintain the veracity of the whole awards scheme.

The China (Shanghai) International boat Show runs from the 11th April to the 14th April at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
