Beatport Founder John Acquaviva and DJZ Co-Founder Alexis Giles Join MOX After Successful Launch at WMC/Ultra 2013

MOX, the first 24/7 online music television platform, announced today that Beatport founder and dance music luminary John Acquaviva will lead its current round of investment and has agreed to serve as chair of MOX’s advisory board. MOX also announced that industry veteran and DJZ co-founder Alexis Giles has agreed to join MOX as VP of Business Development.

Coming off the heels of Beatport’s acquisition by entertainment conglomerate SFX, Acquaviva is excited to help build another electronic music hub. “MOX has a unique understanding of electronic music as a lifestyle, and they’re the first to create technology that brings a truly connected, curated, and visual experience to music lovers,” he said. “I’m delighted to work with Alexis to collaborate even more closely with industry partners and artists to create something authentic and innovative for the community.”

“We’re honored that John is so passionate about MOX and so eager to bring his unmatched wisdom and years of experience to help us grow,” commented MOX’s co-founder and CEO, Carter Laren. “He’s one of the most respected figures in the industry for good reason.”

“I’m also thrilled to announce that Alexis Giles will lead our business development efforts,” Laren continued. “Her work on Google’s new business development team and as a key part of YouTube’s commercial legal efforts are laudable, but what really makes Alexis a perfect fit is her deep love, understanding, and expertise in the electronic music industry.”

These announcements follow MOX’s official premier during this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami, where dozens of world-class DJ performed aboard the MOX Bus, an exclusive dance party that roamed the streets of South Beach. Highlights from the MOX Bus include a raging set from #6 DJ in the world, Hardwell; SMOG’s takeover with 12th Planet and friends, including special appearances by adult film star Jessie Andrews and Bauer of “Harlem Shake” fame; and the fast-rising Dirtybird crew, who held a bowling party at a local Miami alley. MOX concluded the week on a 93-foot yacht with performances by preeminent label Toolroom, including DJ Mark Knight and The Wire’s Idris Elba. About MOX:

Originally operating as Inara Ventures-backed DJCN, Inc., MOX spent 2012 amassing a large catalog of exclusive interviews and coverage of EDM festivals and artists before acquiring Cull TV and rebranding as “MOX.” Launching in 2013, MOX is now an online and mobile music "television" network focused on electronic dance music. On MOX.TV you'll find a music news program every hour with a real-live host, along with a 24/7 stream of latest music videos, VJs, artists interviews, and live sets. The concept of MOX is simple: bring back music television, and put it where everyone already goes for music and videos: online.
